Hickory Tavern® is putting the FREE in freedom as it is set to honor veterans and active-duty military this Friday, November 10, 2023 with a complementary meal from its recently-revitalized menu, which includes a Freedom Burger, which honors and supports veterans year-round.
“We are so excited to treat and honor those who make our freedom possible to the point we couldn’t wait until Veterans Day to do so.” said Hickory Tavern CEO Mark Eason. “We applaud the restaurant industry for making sure that our 16.2 million veterans will have hundreds of free meal options on Saturday. We thought a head start would mean they would get a free meal a day early as well.”
Veterans Day is on Nov. 11 every year, regardless of what day of the week it falls. However, it falls on a Saturday this year, meaning that federal employees will observe the federal holiday the previous day, on Friday, Nov. 10, and many government services will be closed. Many schools and companies will also be closed Friday in observation of the holiday.
In addition to the day-early free meal, Hickory Tavern supports America’s heroes every day through its partnership with The Independence Fund, which receives $1 from every purchase of its Freedom Burger, which features two beef patties, American cheese, roasted onions, pickles, a house-made sauce on sesame seed bun.
The Independence Fund, which devotes funds to assist veterans and their families, has received more than $150,000 from Freedom Burger sales and that number grows every day.
“We have a proud history of supporting our nation’s military, hiring and promoting veterans and our team members. to a person, are thrilled by the opportunity to serve those who’ve served us,” continued Eason. “This isn’t a pared-down menu, it’s a take-your-pick from our entire recently-redone menu.”
Veterans and troops can choose items from the new menu, which has been applauded by national and regional media and most importantly, Hickory Tavern’s valued guests.
Here are the details: Veterans and active-duty members will receive a free meal of equal or lesser value with purchase of another meal. Dine-in only, limit of one free meal per U.S military service member. Proof of military service is required. No cash value. Beverage, tax and gratuity not included.
